Happy Mothers Day to all the Dating Moms. Also the single moms that are contemplating entering the dating world soon. Dating is complicated enough, now add being a single mom or dating a single mom to the mix and you have an instant misadventure.
I want to acknowledge how much more is involved when dating a women who has children. It's a big commitment, you are not just entering a relationship, you are entering a family. There is less time and less privacy and so much more work required for a single parent in the dating world.
At first you are dating, same as any other couple is dating. The first dates, romantic candle light dinners, maybe even a sexy getaway. Then things get serious, and it becomes time to meet "The Kids"!
Moms are very protective of their children. They do not introduce them to just anyone. If you are asked to meet the kids, know that you are loved, trusted and well thought of as a person. Be prepared nontheless, this is where the misadventure begins.
When having to meet younger children it becomes quite frightening for both parties. Younger children are unpredictable in what they say and do, they might blurt out stuff like "I don't think she's pretty daddy!" or "I don't like you mister, you're ugly"! Whether the kids are younger or older, it's sure to make for some memorable moments to laugh or cry about later.
As I mentioned, its hard to be a single mom, divorced mom, and any other kind of super mom, running the family on her own. Yet, a smart mom knows that life still goes on and that we must work through what ever life throws at us. To all those wonderful ladies out there, I'd like to say Happy Mothers Day. Keep working hard at finding the happiness you deserve; you and your children are worth it.
Happy Mothers Day and thanks for following Marisa's Misadventures*
