Happy New Year Daters. We successfully made it through another year of dating. If your midnight kiss was memorable last night, well let's hope you are off to a great start for the new year. We all hope for the best and most romantic scenarios for our midnight kisses, but most likely you were at home watching the countdown on television. It's time to change things for 2013. We have a full year to get it together and make some better dating choices. Time for some dating resolutions!
#1 Date someone you are attracted to. Simple enough right. Well sometimes you date, just to date. This year only date someone you are physically and mentally attracted to. You will find yourself more involved in the date and excited about the time spent together.
#2 Date someone financially ready to date. Dating is expensive, that is just the honest truth. There are choices to be made. If you date the person who is unemployed or lives off his mom, just know that your options will be limited. Know what you want before you get serious with anyone. If you like flowers, date a florist not a poor guy.
#3 Date someone that you are not embarrassed to introduce to your friends. If he isn't good enough to join you and your pals or family for drinks or coffee, then move on. Whatever the reason, you should only date someone you can proudly walk down the street with.
#4 Date someone who is interested in you as much as you are interested in them. They should want to know important things about you. If they are concerned about your happiness and current goals, that's a great sign. If you find yourself constantly listening to his work stories only... run!
I'm wishing us all great luck this year with our dating misadventures. All of our experiences are just that, experiences. We will become wiser when making future dating choices. If you can say that you learned from your dating mistakes and will not repeat them, then we are on the right track.
So I hold my champagne glass up and toast to us, the many single men and women of this beautiful city. May we find love or at least some great laughs while dating in 2013.
