The Lovey Dovey Phase

As we all know... in the beginning of all love affairs and relationships everything is perfect. You love him and he loves you. All doors are opened for you as you approach. You tell each other how sexy you find each other to be. You even control or hide you little bad habits to impress that special someone or at least to not scare them off right away.


So how long does this phase actually last? I decided to go into it showing all my flaws, want to remind him that no one is perfect. I offer love, honesty and respect. I want to give a man an opportunity to see the real me and either fall in love with me and all my "quirks" or at least have the option of making up his mind as to whether he can hang with someone as cool as me :)


Either way, I feel that he has that right to be spoken to and treated honestly. No games here. This way no one gets unwanted surprises later on into the relationship like... "what do you mean, you never was your hands after peeing???" or "Woohoo, did you see how far I shot that snot rocket???"


Nobody wants to deal with that... if I even see a guy "snot rocket" I will punch him dead in the nose, c'mon now, I know your momma' taught you better than that.


So truly and honestly how long do you think the Lovey Dovey phase lasts? Do some of these elderly couple that we sometimes see together still opening doors for their ladies and holding hands, do they know the secret? Do they know the tricks to a long lasting love? Next time I see a couple like that, I am going to ask... I want to know.
